Trump Tower Planned for Tbilisi, Set to Be City’s Tallest Building

Tbilisi, Georgia – April 20, 2026 – A planned “Trump Tower” development in Tbilisi, Georgia, is poised to become the city’s tallest building. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Donald Trump’s business holding and its partners are undertaking the project, with a proposed 70-story complex. The development will incorporate luxury residences, retail space, and a hotel, designed by the international architecture firm Gensler.

A consortium of Georgian and international development companies is behind the project, including a New York-based developer previously associated with the Trump Organization, Sapir. Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, stated the project aims to establish a “globally recognised standard of excellence” within the region. Initial plans dating back to 2012, involving a real estate project in Batumi, were presented with then-Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Donald Trump himself.

However, these plans were ultimately abandoned. Previous attempts to realize a “Trump Tower” project in Tbilisi have faced obstacles. In 2017, a $250 million skyscraper proposal by Silk Road Group and the Co-Investment Fund, backed by Bidzina Ivanishvili, was delayed and never completed, coinciding with U.S.

sanctions against Ivanishvili. The construction of the proposed “Trump Tower” would necessitate clearing approximately 80,000 square metres of forest, according to Saba Buadze, a former Tbilisi City Council member. The project represents a significant investment and a potential landmark for Tbilisi.
