Three police officers injured in shooting in Daghestan

Three police officers were injured in a shooting in Daghestan following an attempt to quell a disturbance. The incident occurred in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutay, situated near Buynaksk, Western Daghestan. The officers responded to the scene of a dispute by chance and intervened to halt the confrontation.

However, one individual disregarded their lawful commands and initiated a firearm attack. The officers received injuries of differing degrees and were initially treated at the Buynaksk Central City Hospital. Subsequently, all three were transferred to the Vishnevsky Republican Clinical Hospital for continued care.

The Ministry of Health reported that two of the injured required surgical intervention and are currently under intensive care observation, while the third is receiving outpatient treatment. Their conditions are not considered life-threatening at this time. A 31-year-old resident of Nizhny Dzhengutay has been apprehended on suspicion of involvement in the shooting.

Details regarding the suspect’s identity remain undisclosed. An investigative group from the regional Interior Ministry is actively working at the location, aiming to determine the full circumstances surrounding the event. Currently, there are no known details concerning the origin of the dispute or the number of individuals involved.
