Lucky: the story of a rescued kitten. Video from Tbilisi Zoo

The Tbilisi Zoo presents a heartwarming tale of rescue, focusing on a small feline named Lucky. A video from the Tbilisi zoo details the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the kitten’s arrival. On a particular October morning, Khutuna Mzhavanadze, a zoo employee, discovered the vulnerable kitten amidst the grounds.

She heard its desperate cries and observed a dog holding the creature in its jaws. “I don’t recall the precise moment I freed him from the dog’s grasp,” Khutuna explains, “I initially feared he was lifeless, but he demonstrated a powerful will to survive. I immediately sought assistance from the zoo’s veterinary team.”

Unfortunately, the kitten’s mother and any siblings were nowhere to be found.

The exact details of his arrival at the tbilisi zoo remain unknown. The tiny animal sustained serious injuries, and his prognosis was initially poor. Following two months of intensive care, Lucky began a remarkable recovery.

Khutuna affectionately named him “Lucky,” recognizing his fortunate escape. Now residing within the exotarium building, Lucky is the first animal visitors encounter. He often relaxes in his preferred black armchair near the entrance, occasionally engaging in playful interactions with rabbits and guinea pigs in a nearby enclosure.

The Tbilisi zoo, established in 1927, originally occupied 70 hectares within the Vere River gorge. Despite expansions and a devastating flood in 2015, the zoo now encompasses five hectares and houses approximately 1,500 animals, each with a unique narrative. This video series will showcase the daily lives of these residents, exploring their interactions and behaviors within the zoo.
