Drones fly over Baku, with authorities claiming they were Azerbaijani

Azerbaijani drones were observed flying over Baku during the night, sparking immediate discussion about their origin. Several pro-government media sources asserted that the drones were Azerbaijani, performing routine surveillance of the nation’s airspace. Qafqazinfo quoted military analyst Adalat Verdiyev, who stated, “The drones seen this evening above Baku are undoubtedly Azerbaijani.

These flights are intended to monitor the capital’s airspace and maintain security. Such operations have occurred previously, and there is no reason for alarm.”

Subsequently, the Defence Ministry addressed inquiries from Public TV, asserting that the drones had been utilized for training exercises over several days. They reiterated, “There is no cause for concern.” However, the ministry’s failure to issue prior warnings regarding these training missions fueled skepticism on social media platforms.

This development occurred amidst escalating regional tensions linked to the conflict in Iran, which has impacted Azerbaijan. In March, Azerbaijani drones, allegedly originating from Iran, targeted the Nakhchivan exclave, resulting in injuries to at least four individuals. Iran has consistently denied responsibility for launching these drones.

Despite a recent cooling of relations, with Azerbaijan offering humanitarian aid to Iran on March 10th, the situation remains complex. The presence of these azerbaijani drones raises further questions about regional security and ongoing geopolitical dynamics.
