Thousands participated in a recurring Saturday demonstration in Tbilisi, Georgia, on March 14, 2026, urging the Georgian Dream party to reinstate the nation’s commitment to European integration. This marked day 472 of sustained protests. The event focused on supporting “prisoners of conscience,” individuals arrested and convicted during the ongoing demonstrations.

Many attendees carried images of themselves, reflecting on the scale of the movement. The march culminated at the parliament building, where a significant crowd had already assembled, and temporary shelters were re-established. For over a year, beginning in November 2024, continuous protests have occurred across Georgia, primarily in Tbilisi and other cities.

These protests consistently draw thousands, sometimes tens of thousands, of people demanding a return to European integration. During this period, numerous demonstrators have been detained, faced legal charges, and received prison sentences. Georgia now holds approximately 150 “prisoners of conscience,” including women, a first for the nation’s independent history.

Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of prominent media outlets Batumelebi and Netgazeti, is among those imprisoned, having served two years for an incident involving a police officer. The protests demand the release of all political detainees, fresh parliamentary elections, and the annulment of restrictive laws implemented in recent years. The Georgian Dream party has intensified its response through increased pressure on civil society and the media.

Despite this, ongoing protests continue throughout Georgia.
