The Armenian community reaffirms its commitment to the de facto independence of the separatist Abkhazia

On February 20th, Alik Minasyan secured another term as chairman of the Armenian community within the separatist region of Abkhazia. This outcome occurred during a congress held in Matschara, a village located in the Gulripsh district. During his report, Minasyan detailed the activities undertaken by the community and underscored its vital function.

He stressed the organization’s role in bolstering the statehood of Abkhazia and safeguarding the cultural heritage of the Hamshen Armenians. Minasyan reiterated the community’s firm political position, stating, “Our fundamental principle remains consistent: the Armenian community steadfastly supports Abkhazia’s independence and fully embraces the advancement of its state and civil structures.” He continued with a declaration of continued commitment, expressing confidence in their ongoing efforts. Furthermore, he conveyed his appreciation for the assistance received over the preceding three years.
