Georgia increased its imports of Russian oil by 21 times in a year

Georgia significantly increased its crude oil imports from Russia in 2025, representing a dramatic shift in trade patterns. Data released by the National Statistical Office of Georgia, analyzed by TASS, reveals a substantial rise in the nation’s reliance on Russian oil. Specifically, Georgia imported 225,300 tons of crude oil from Russia during that year, a figure that more than doubled the combined total of all previous years.

This particular import totaled $95.8 million US dollars. The agency reported that in 2025, the country purchased 225,283.5 tons of the commodity at that price. Prior to 2025, the volume of crude oil imports from Russia to georgia was markedly lower.

Just one year earlier, the total was only 10.5 tons, valued at $5.8 million US dollars. Cumulative imports of Russian oil to georgia over all years up to 2025 now stand at 113,900 tons, representing a reduction of 1.98 times compared to the preceding year. Notable deliveries of Russian oil began in October 2025, with a shipment of 99,000 tons.

Further imports occurred in November, totaling 34,400 tons.
