Chechen First Son Launches Energy Drink Amidst Father’s Previous Opposition

Grozny, Chechnya – Adam Kadyrov, the 18-year-old son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, has launched a new energy drink, “K13,” sparking attention amidst his father’s past criticisms of the beverage category. The product’s design mirrors that of popular energy brands like Monster Energy, featuring a dark color scheme and a similar logo font. On April 15th, Ramzan Kadyrov and Chechen Parliament Chair Magomed Daudov were reportedly offered K13 at the opening of a hypermarket in Grozny.

Adam Kadyrov promoted the drink via an Instagram video showcasing a drifting BMW with K13 branding. The trademark application for K13 was filed in March by United Company, registered by Islam Visaliev, who previously held positions within the Grozny municipal district administration. Both United Company and K-13, listed on the drink’s official website, may be involved in the drink’s production and sale.

Previously, Ramzan Kadyrov had voiced strong opposition to energy drinks, describing them as “poison” and citing religious objections to their consumption. Despite advocating for a federal ban, Chechnya implemented fines for retail sales in 2012 and 2018, restricting sales in specific locations. Adam Kadyrov is widely considered a potential successor to his father, currently holding several key positions within Chechen security and government structures.

However, recent reports suggest a decline in his prominence following a January car crash, leading to speculation about his future prospects. The launch of K13 highlights the evolving dynamics within the Kadyrov family and the Chechen leadership, particularly given the initial stance against energy drinks held by Ramzan Kadyrov.
