Photo: officials Ramzan Kadyrov, Head of Chechnya, has strongly condemned the US and Israel’s actions regarding Iran, labeling them a ‘treacherous attack’ targeting the Islamic world during the holy month. He also expressed his sorrow over the assassination of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, calling it a ‘tragedy’.
Kadyrov criticized Iran’s retaliatory strikes, asserting that attacks on civilian infrastructure and resulting civilian deaths are unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. Kadyrov specifically addressed the UAE, highlighting its repeated targeting by Iran since the conflict began. He praised the UAE’s leadership, stating they have never initiated military actions against neighboring countries and consider the nation one of the world’s safest and most stable.
He proposed a meeting of Gulf countries in Chechnya, facilitated by Kadyrov, to coordinate regional efforts. Kadyrov suggested this meeting, discussed previously in 2026 by ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, could significantly improve regional stability. Previously, Chechen authorities hadn’t publicly commented on the Iran situation, except for Commander Apti Alaudinov of the Akhmat special forces unit, who expressed his readiness to support Iran.
Kadyrov has maintained close ties with the UAE, evidenced by numerous meetings and collaborative projects, including renaming a Grozny street in honor of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and establishing a Quran memorization center. He has sought security guarantees from Middle Eastern leaders and has been linked through investigations to property ownership in Dubai. Recent reports detail his family’s frequent visits to Dubai and their involvement in various international events, including the COP28 climate summit.
These developments have created tensions between Chechnya and the Kremlin, with the FSB uncovering Kadyrov’s secret negotiations.
