130th IPRM Meeting in Ergneti

The inaugural gathering of the Mechanism for Prevention and Response to Incidents (IPRM) for the Zchinwali area convened on January 29th, 2026, in Ergneti. This location sits alongside the administrative border (ABL) to the Russian-controlled Zchinwali region. The meeting was initially planned for early February, but was accelerated due to urgent circumstances.

The negotiations were overseen collaboratively by Christoph Späti, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, and Bettina Patricia Boughani, the head of the EUMM in Georgia. Participants in the meeting thoroughly examined all notable security incidents documented along the line of occupation. These incidents had been recorded since the previous IPRM session.

Georgian security officials reiterated the need for a more proactive stance regarding security measures. Representatives from Georgia emphasized the importance of preventative action during the meeting. The purpose of the IPRM was to address these concerns and foster stability in the region.
